Kimi ni Todoke - Sanada Ryuu is the New Azuma
I am predictable. This guy is obviously one of my favourite things about watching Kimi ni Todoke, just as Azuma is my favourite thing about Cross Game. In fact, Ryuu is my substitute mid-week Azuma! When you just can’t wait til Sunday…
Although this week I have actually been more excited about Ryuu’s storylines, since he features largely in both the upcoming anime story arc and in the last few scanlated manga chapters. Looking forward to even more Ryuu in next week’s Kimi ni Todoke because that wench Aya Hirano Kurumi is dragging him into the picture to use for her evil ends. His comical efforts this week to remember Kuronuma’s name were great too - and mad shades of Azuma. Although unlike poor Azuma, Ryuu gets a nice big heart-wrenching romantic arc in the manga which I just read last Tuesday night. FUCK YEAH CHAPTER 23, MADE MY WEEK.
So I guess Sanada is kind of the new Azuma? I was disappointed to find out they aren’t voiced by the same seiyuu! I require more typecasting! Azuma’s seiyuu also voiced Suzaku from Code Geass, which is an appropriately crush-worthy pedigree. But Sanada is Shugo Chara’s Ikuto AND Tomoya Okazaki. Just saying.
